Character Advancement – November 2025: Respect!

November is all about RESPECT — showing gratitude and appreciation for others through actions, words, and attitude. As we enter a season of thankfulness, our students will learn that respect is the foundation of strong character, good relationships, and Tang Soo Do discipline.

Each week, we’ll connect Respect to one of our 14 Attitude Requirements — helping students see that respect is something you do, not just something you say. Whether bowing to an instructor, helping a classmate, or listening carefully to a parent, respect is how we show our Tang Soo Do spirit in and out of the dojang.

Parents will notice this month’s lessons showing up at home and school as students show gratitude, kindness, and courtesy more naturally each day.

Tang Soo Do Attitudes That Build Respect

Week 1 – Always Listen and Follow the Direction of Instructor or Seniors (#7)
Respect begins with listening. When students pay attention and follow directions the first time, they show trust in their instructors and maturity in their learning.

Week 2 – Practice Basic Techniques All the Time (#5)
Respect for Tang Soo Do means never treating the basics as “boring.” True Black Belts honor their training by practicing foundational skills with pride and purpose.

Week 3 – Maintain Regular and Constant Practice (#4)
Consistency is a form of respect — for your goals, your instructors, and yourself. Showing up ready to train shows you care about your progress.

Week 4 – Cleanliness is Required After Training. Keep Yourself and Your Surroundings Clean (#14)
A clean uniform, organized gear, and a tidy dojang all show respect — not just for the art, but for everyone who shares the training space with you.

Throughout November, we’ll remind students that Respect is more than manners — it’s how we show appreciation for the people, places, and principles that help us grow stronger every day.
