Character Advancement – September 2025: Perseverance!

Several of the 14 Attitudes of Tang Soo Do directly connect to Perseverance.

September is all about PERSEVERANCE — teaching students to push forward even when challenges feel tough. Whether it’s mastering a difficult math problem, finishing a karate form, or bouncing back after a mistake, perseverance builds the strength to keep going until the goal is reached.

In Tang Soo Do, perseverance is woven into many of the 14 Attitude Requirements. This month, we’ll show students how not to give up, even when things get hard. Parents will see the benefits at home and school — from finishing homework with determination to showing resilience in sports and daily life.

Attitudes That Build Perseverance:

• All Out Effort (#3) – Keep giving 100%, even when tired or frustrated.

• Maintain Regular & Constant Practice (#4) – Show up consistently; small daily efforts add up to big success.

• Always Follow a Routine Training Schedule (#10) – Stick to a plan — it builds discipline and grit.

• Frequently Inspect Your Own Achievements (#11) – Check your progress and look for ways to improve.

• When You Begin to Feel Idle, Try to Overcome This (#13) – Push past laziness and keep moving toward your goals.
